Yamaha/Ranger Pro Spencer Deutz Hosts National Walleye Tour’s Youth and Family Fishing Event in Devils Lake, ND

Forestville, WI:  Devils Lake, ND was the host for the third stop of the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour (NWT) for 2018. This meant that Devils Lake would also be the host location for the third NWT National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) Future Angler Foundation (FAF) youth and family-fishing clinic.

Spencer Deutz, a Ranger Boats and Yamaha Outboards Professional Angler, competed in the tournament and hosted the youth and family-fishing clinic following the event. This is Deutzs’ eighth clinic of the season with his goal of educating over 600 kids in 2018. Since 2010, Deutz has hosted over 70 fishing clinics and has made a significant impact on the sport through education and outreach.

Following the tournament weigh-in, the 63 future anglers in attendance gathered around Deutz near the shores of Devils Lake. Deutz conducted an interactive seminar, which educated the kids on aquatic nuisance species, fish identification, on water safety and much more.

After the seminar, each future angler in attendance received a rod/reel combination and a “Future Pro” T-shirt, compliments of the FAF. The young anglers then had the opportunity to use their rods and learn different casting techniques by casting for backyard bass, the ever-popular kids’ fishing game.

Deutz, the NPAA, and the FAF would like to thank the NWT for allowing them to use their stage to host this event. In all, 63 future anglers and 24 adults attended the clinic. Other volunteers for this event include: Zach Axtman, Chris Holte and Kris Walcker.

Deutze’s Sponsors Included: Yamaha Outboards, Ranger Boats, SunButter Sunflower Butter, Blackfish Gear, Optima Batteries, Luther Family Buick GMC of Fargo, ND, Airwave Pedestals, Vision Bank, Moritz Sport and Marine, Off Shore Tackle, Northland Fishing Tackle and Sanford Health Healthcare Accessories.
