Fargo, ND – June 28th, 2023 – Yamaha Pro Angler, Spencer Deutz, held the second of five highly anticipated Youth and Family Fishing Clinics at SCHEELS in Fargo, ND on June 13. The event provided an interactive educational opportunity for youth anglers, on the fundamentals of fishing while promoting responsible angling practices and conservation efforts.
Following the seminar, the youth anglers were divided into four stations, each offering hands-on activities. Kids practiced casting techniques, honing their accuracy and distance abilities. Another station focused on bait identification, enabling the kids to recognize and choose the most suitable bait for different fishing scenarios.
A highlight of the event was “Project Tikka Mino,” where the youth learned to create their own customized fishing lures. The project allowed them to explore their creative abilities while gaining an understanding of lure design principles. At the end of the season, 10 winners will be chosen and their drawings will be converted as an exact match on to an actual Tikka Mino fishing lure.
Kids were treated to a tour of Deutz’s state-of-the-art boat, a 2023 Ranger 620FSPro, powered by a Yamaha 300XCB engine. Deutz shared his personal experiences and offered guidance on boat maintenance, emphasizing the importance of taking care of their fishing gear.
Each youth angler received a complimentary rod and reel combination courtesy of the National Professional Anglers Association Future Angler Foundation, so they can continue their fishing journeys, and become future ambassadors of the sport.
