Forestville, WI: Ladies came from as far away from New Jersey to learn offshore fishing skills at the Ladies Let’s Go Fishing South Florida Fishing University April 26-28, 2019 held at the VFW, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Women learned and practiced fishing skills at several hands-on skill stations.
Activities launched Friday evening with an informal meet-and-greet. On Saturday was a full day, with presentations on Fishing Basics by Capt. Lee Lavery, Offshore Fishing by Jeanne Towne and Capt. Dennis Forgione, Drift Boat Fishing by Allison Stattner and Conservation by Betty Bauman. Hands-on skill practice followed, for releasing, knot tying, dehooking, bait rigging, spin casting, cast netting, Magic Tilt trailer backing and more. On Sunday was an optional charter fishing trip where they caught mahi, mackerel, tuna, snapper and more, followed by a filet demonstration.
