On Saturday, August 28th “Fishing is Fun! held another kids fishing clinic as part of the Kevin J Murray Memorial Fishing Tournament at Lewis & Clark Reservoir near Crofton, NE. A total of 24 kids learned about knot tying, bait/lures, fish id, casting, invasive species, and water safety. Each one was given a certificate, along with a rod/reel combo. Shirts provided by the National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) and the Future Anglers Foundation (FAF) were also given to all of the kids.
This clinic took place just after the weigh-in for the Kevin J Murray Memorial Tournament. There were 22 tournament anglers that provided the instruction for this clinic.
This was the 17th Kevin J Murray Memorial Tournament held after Kevin Murray drowned while fishing at Lewis & Clark Reservoir in 2004. Over $169,000 in funds has been raised by this annual event to benefit the Wayne, NE Community Schools Foundation.
Fishing is Fun! Clinics are held by the Nebraska Walleye Association Kids Fishing Clinics Charity, Inc. A 501(c)3- Public Charity promoting fishing in Nebraska. On an annual basis 18-22 clinics are held with over 2000 youths, including those with special needs participating.
