Forestville, WI: Urban American Outdoors will be hosting the Urban Kids Fishing Derby (Catch and Release) in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, June 3, 2017. The event is from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Constitution Gardens Lake on the Washington D.C. National Mall and it’s FREE. There will be a $100 grand prize for biggest fish caught then released.
Robert “Nick” Schmal, Executive Director of the Future Angler Foundation (NPAA #123) and Jesse Tintes, of Tintes Outdoors (NPAA #846) are joining a large group of volunteers to help with the derby. They will be guiding the new anglers to bait hooks, cast, and release hooked fish unharmed. You might even see the duo teaching casting using Backyard Bass® (Iron Pacific Outdoors). Nearly 250 youth are expected for the four hour derby.
Constitution Gardens Lake is located in downtown Washington, D.C. and has been designated for catch and release fishing only. Within the 6.75 acre lake, there are populations of large- mouth bass, bluegill, and black crappie.
