For the second year in a row, Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame Club, FM Walleyes Unlimited, INC. and Courts Plus Fitness Center came together to hold a National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) Future Angler Event. Over the past two years, this event has introduced and helped 200 kids perfect their fishing skills and learn the basics of fishing and the outdoors.
On Saturday April 25th, 88 kids attend the clinic with their friends and families. The event started off in Studio A where the children took part in an interactive seminar given by FM Walleyes Unlimited, INC. Youth Education Coordinator and NPAA Member #552 Spencer Deutz. The kids learned how to prevent and identify aquatic nuisance species (ANS), how to identify various types of fish, water safety and the most importantly, why fishing is fun!
After the seminar, each kid was given a rod/reel combo or Future Angler t-shit and ANS water bottle courtesy of the NPAA Future Angler Foundation.
The kids then moved their way in the Courts Plus gymnasium, where they tuned in their casting skills catching backyard bass. They also were able to view minnows with an underwater camera, learned how to tie various fishing knots and safe fish handling as well as how to properly remove hooks.
NPAA Members who volunteered were: Spencer Deutz #552, Scotty Brewer #665, Chad Maloy #499, JW Schroeder #148 and Paul DesChene #663.
